Samsung Frame TV Mounting Guide: What to Know Before You Start

The Samsung Frame TV is one of the most popular TVs on the market. When it’s installed correctly, it can be hard to tell it’s a TV and not a piece of art.

If you’re still in the planning phase, we can provide the TV along with the mounting service. We work with local distributors who can typically deliver to your door within 24 hours, with better availability and support than most big box stores, while also supporting local businesses.

The Mounting System

Getting that clean, gallery style look comes down to proper installation. The mounting system is purpose built and completely different from a standard TV, so everything has to be precise.

Instead of a single bracket, it uses two thin metal plates attached to the wall, one for each side of the TV. Those plates have to be perfectly level with each other, and the spacing has to be exact. If you’re off, even by half an inch, it won’t work.

The TV is designed to sit tight to the wall, so if the surface isn’t perfectly flat or there’s something like an outlet cover behind it, you’ll need to use the included plastic spacers to get it to sit flush against the wall.

On top of that, the two wall plates don’t always line up cleanly with studs. That can make it difficult, and sometimes impossible, to hit studs on both sides. In those cases, you may need to adjust the layout or use toggle bolts instead of mounting directly into studs.

Samsung Frame TV vs Frame Pro: What’s the Difference?

The biggest difference is picture quality. The standard Frame uses a QLED panel and looks solid overall. The Frame Pro steps that up with a Mini LED panel, higher brightness, and better contrast. It handles glare better and has more punch, especially in bright rooms. The Pro performs more like a high end TV.

There are also differences in processing and size. The Frame Pro uses a newer processor, which improves motion, upscaling, and overall image quality. Screen size is also a factor. The Frame Pro is only available in 65 inches or larger, while the standard Frame starts at 32 inches. The standard Frame is more of an entry level Art TV, while the Pro sits closer to premium TV performance.

What is a Samsung One Connect Box?

Samsung Frame TVs use a separate One Connect Box where all devices connect, including streaming devices, gaming consoles, and soundbars. This design allows the screen itself to remain thin and mount close to the wall.

Because all inputs are routed through the One Connect Box, its location becomes an important part of the installation. Whether it’s placed behind the TV or left in a cabinet or console will affect how clean the final setup looks and how cables are managed.

In Wall Media Box and Cable Concealment

If you want to hide the One Connect Box and cables, an in wall media box will be required. The size and configuration depend on the type of Frame TV and how you plan to use your system.

This is especially important for the One Connect Box, since it needs to be accounted for during planning if you want a clean, concealed setup.

If you’re deciding whether to hide the One Connect Box or leave it accessible, you can read our guide: Should You Hide the One Connect Box on a Samsung Frame TV?

Why Installing a Frame TV the Right Way Matters

Installing a Frame TV is more involved than a standard TV. There are several variables, and small issues can affect the final result.

You’re dealing with a mounting system that has to be precise, wall conditions, and wiring that needs to be planned ahead of time. Even things like stud placement, outlet location, or what’s behind the wall can change how the install needs to be done.

If you want to hide cables and devices, an electrician will be required to add power and install an in wall media box. That usually means a separate visit to evaluate the wall before moving forward.

And if it’s not level, not flush, or you can see wires, it defeats the whole purpose of having an art TV.

How We Handle Frame TV Installations in Austin

We’ve installed hundreds of Samsung Frame TVs across Austin in all types of homes, from new builds in Easton Park to older homes in Travis Heights and luxury high rises downtown.

We can also supply your Frame TV and in wall media box as part of the installation. We work with a local distributor here in Austin, which means better availability, customer service, and a smoother overall process compared to buying from a big box store. We take care of everything for you on one invoice.

We start with an on-site consultation and follow a step by step process to make sure everything is planned out properly.

Step 1: Placement

We work with you to determine the ideal location for the TV, which will let us know where we should install the media box.

Step 2: Wall Inspection

Next, we check what’s behind the wall. If conditions allow, we use a boroscope camera to inspect for pipes, wood blocking, or other obstructions.

Step 3: Test Cut and Measurements

If everything looks clear, we cut a small inspection hole to confirm measurements and make sure the box will fit. We also verify that there’s a nearby power source or that one can be added.

Step 4: Layout and Planning

Once all measurements and conditions are verified, we mark and tape off the exact location for the media box. We also record a quick video explaining the layout so there’s no confusion between the homeowner, electrician, and our installation team.

Step 5: Electrician Coordination

We send you a link to the video along with a referral list of licensed electricians that we’ve worked with and trust. Once you choose an electrician, you can forward the video link to them so they know exactly what to do.

If you have an electrician you’ve worked with before and want to use them instead, that’s ok as well, whatever you are most comfortable with. We will leave the media box with you at the time of the inspection so everything is ready to go.

Step 6: Final Installation

After the electrician completes their work, we come back to finish the install, mount the TV, and get everything connected and dialed in.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can you mount a Samsung Frame TV with a regular TV mount?

Yes. If you don’t want to use the included slim fit mount, the Samsung Frame TV can also be installed with a standard VESA mount. Just keep in mind that doing that changes the look. It won’t sit as tight to the wall, so you lose the flush, framed art effect that the included mount is designed to create.

What is the difference between the Samsung Frame and Frame Pro?

The biggest differences are picture quality, brightness, and wiring. The Frame Pro uses a Mini LED panel and a wireless One Connect box, while the standard Frame uses a QLED panel and a wired One Connect box that carries both power and data.

Do I need an in wall media box for a Samsung Frame TV?

If you want a clean install with no visible cables, yes. An in wall media box gives you a recessed space inside the wall to hide cables, devices, and in some cases the One Connect box.

Can you run the Samsung One Connect cable inside the wall?

No, the Samsung One Connect cable is not rated for in-wall installation and should not be run behind the wall.

Even though the cable is thin and low-profile, it carries power and data and does not meet the requirements for in-wall use under electrical code. Running it inside the wall can create safety issues and may violate local building codes.

Do I need an electrician for a Samsung Frame TV installation?

No, not for every installation. An electrician is only needed if you want to add power behind the TV and install an in wall media box.

Can Mount It ATX supply the Samsung Frame TV?

Yes. We can provide the Samsung Frame TV along with the mounting service. We work with a local distributor who offers fast delivery, excellent customer support, and a smoother overall process than the big box or online retailers. Purchasing your TVs and soundbars through us also supports two local businesses.
